I'm Homeless (Deborah)

"I'm Homeless" | Please Listen:

(View this video below.)

God led me to a very specific place. So, I told my mother and we went. We did not know who we were looking for, but when the Holy Spirit leads, we should always follow. We got out the car and walked to where God led. We seen a homeless lady named Deborah that we hadn't seen around much, sitting with a man. This was the place.

Not knowing that (humbly said) I have a ministry or that I have anything to do with cameras: Deborah suddenly asked to be filmed! She then kindly said:

"I can help you with your ministry, or whatever you're doing."

She expressed wanting to be a voice for the homeless.

I took a moment away to pray for instructions. God Spoke. We asked her for a day and time!

"Monday at 12 o'clock" she said!

There are so many scriptures one can share to explain this moment, but God led me to the best one to apply:

Romans 10:13:
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

God said: "WHOSOEVER"! Deborah is our sister. She is not beneath us. God is not a respecter of persons, and neither should we be (Acts 10:34). Deborah wanted to be heard. Deborah, you are heard.

This is not about me. This is about her.

P.S. Deborah dropped some Biblical knowledge at the end.

"We All Matter to Jesus Christ":

Jesus loves us all, no matter what our status is in this life: It does not matter how much money we make or do not make. It does not matter how popular or unpopular we are. It does not matter if we are rich monetarily or are only rich at heart. It does not matter the state of our health—mentally, emotionally, or physically. Our material possessions—plentiful or not—do not determine whether or not Jesus loves us or how much Jesus loves us.

Do you see where we are going here? Jesus' love for us in unconditional! God created us all on purpose, with purpose! God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of every single one of us—and so Jesus Christ did so with unconditional love! His desire is that we all are saved by His precious blood! We all matter to Jesus Christ!

Several years ago, I was riding in a car with someone. We passed by a homeless man. He unkindly (and arrogantly) stated that he did not feel sorry for the homeless man or anyone in that position. The reason he gave was this:

He had once been homeless and he got himself out of that situation, and because of that, he believed that anyone who is homeless could get themselves out of that position as well—if they really wanted to.

Of course, I did not agree with his feelings or with his attitude.

On another occasion (again, several years back), I was hanging out with a former classmate of mine when God led me to give a homeless man five dollars. My former classmate gave me a strange look. They then said to me along the line of this:

"He's probably going to buy drugs with that money. He looks like he's tweaking."

He was saying that the man looked strung out on drugs. (The term "tweaker" is typically assigned to people who publicly display that they are on meth.) I looked at this person and kindly said them:

"If God leads me to give someone money, I'm going to be obedient to God. What he does with that money is between him and God."

Humbly said, I can tell by the look on my former classmate's face that what I had told them really caused them to think, and to see that moment in a different light. They then expressed to me that they had not thought about it that way. I believe God had me to share those words with them.

Why am I sharing these things? It is not at all to condemn. As led by the LORD, I am sharing these things to shine some light on some of our inner most and even outwardly spoken thoughts and feelings toward the homeless: thoughts and feelings that are not truly expressive of love; that are not Holy Spirit inspired or led, compassionate, understanding, or kind. Sometimes, we—when we function in our flesh—can be a bit judgmental, even when it is unintentional and we are unaware of our judgmental feelings.

I am going to give an example of why a homeless woman would ask for money instead of food or a drink: Some women need feminine products for menstruation. Even if she has had a history of alcoholism or drug use, if she menstruates, she still needs feminine products. Some women are very private about menstruation.

Both men and women need shampoo, first aid kits, clothing, and so on—just like any other human being! I just seen a homeless man the other day outside washing and shampooing himself the best way he could without offending anyone passing by. This broke my heart. Just because someone is homeless, that does not mean that they do not desire to be clean!

Some homeless people have health issues that require a special diet. So, they might turn down the food you offer them and instead ask for money—to buy their own food more appropriate for their health issues. After all, fast food (this seems to be the popular choice of food to offer the homeless) is not the healthiest. Yes, offering fast food is still a kind, loving gesture that is certainly appreciated! However, as a suggestion, keeping possible health issues in mind, if you are able to, also try offering a healthy home cooked meal.

Of course, God's Word instructs us to always be wise and to also be led by the Holy Spirit in all things. If the LORD leads you to help anyone, always be wise, and always be led by the Holy Spirit with how and when you should do so.

I have shared all that God would like for me to share before diving into God's Holy Word.

What does God's Word say about all of this? Here are a few scriptures that the LORD has led me to share in regards to loving and showing our love to the homeless.

 1. Let's talk about love.

John 13:34-35:
34 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. 35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

As children of God, we are to demonstrate love to one another—including to the homeless! We should have a loving nature that the world just cannot miss. Our love should cause people who do not know who Jesus Christ is—as He is the reason we love in such a way—to be curious to know how and why we are so loving: This is where God can be glorified and souls can be saved! Remember, as Christians, we are to be light in this dark world!

2. The Final Judgment.

Matthew 25:31-46:
31 “But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left.
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’
37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
41 “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons. 42 For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. 43 I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’
44 “Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’
45 “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’
46 “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”

3. God does not show favoritism.

Acts 10:34:
34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

God shows no favoritism, He does not demonstrate classism, and He is not an elitist: God loves us all! God wants us all to feel loved! God wants us all to be saved! Since we are to imitate God and follow the example of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5:1-2), we should share those same sentiments: We should want everyone to know about God's loves! We should love everyone, no matter what! We should want everyone to know about the love and Gospel of Jesus Christ, and we should want their souls to be saved!

4. God can use whoever He desires to use to be a vessel for Him!

1 Samuel 16:6-7:
6 When they arrived, Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, “Surely this is the Lord’s anointed!”
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Be careful who you dismiss as being "just mentally ill," as "crazy," as "not being led by the Holy Spirit," or as "not a vessel for the LORD." If you are led by the Holy Spirit to listen to what someone is telling you, including someone who lives out in the streets—then listen! As a step of wisdom, take what was said to you to the LORD in prayer to confirm whether or not those words were from the Holy Spirit! Whatever answer the Holy Spirit gives you, act according to His instructions. God has spoken to me through homeless people before!

5. The offer of Salvation through Jesus Christ is for everyone!

Romans 10:13:
13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

We all matter to God! Jesus died for all of our sins! Whenever we speak to someone who is homeless, if led by the LORD to do so (as God has specific and perfect timing to do all things), ask that precious soul if they are saved, if they know Jesus Christ. Let that precious soul know, or simply remind them, that Jesus Christ truly, truly loves them, unconditionally!

Introducing Please, Listen:

Please, Listen is the newest addition to this ministry. The focus is on loving one another, in this case, by listening to the hearts of others—with a loving, listening heart. However, the topics at hand are also meant to raise awareness about serious issues. Please, Listen also focuses on sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Please, Listen is personal and substantially free-flowing. As the LORD leads, we shall follow. I trust God's plans. All glory to God.

I love you all, but God loves you BEST of all! May God bless you all!

Thank you for visiting! Please come back soon!
